Haven't tried starting the engine with it turned on.  Maybe I'll give that a 
miss. :-)  This one is designed for car/boat use - rather than one that is 
240V and one makes a lead to fit, it comes with the standard cigar plug.  It 
does warn that if you use it on 24V then it will blow an internal fuse, and 
will not be covered by the guarentee.  Worked OK with engine running (Adverc 
controlled at 14.0/14.4V)
