There was a 12V Bolin pump already on Bream when I bought the boat some
8 years ago. After a few month months use (liveaboard) it failed and I
bought another one at £130 from Kuranda. That lasted two years then the
motor gave up. I decided to try a different make (I forget which one.)
After less than 12 months that one failed and I decided to go back to
the Bolin as it was MUCH quieter and had lower current draw. The new one
again lasted a couple of years then the motor died. I wasn't forking out
£130 again so I contacted Bolin in Sweden and bought a replacement
motor. As I recall the motor worked out at about £30 with £10 postage so
I bought two of them while I was at it. As it happens, we're now
refitting the boat and putting in 24V electrics so second motor will
never be fitted. The pump itself was actually just starting to leak a
little when it was removed so that is basically scrap but the spare
motor is still in a box somewhere if anyone wants it.

In conclusion I'd say they are great for leisure use but not man enough
for a liveaboard. I'm going to use a much heavier duty pump this time
around and we're putting it somewhere that the noise doesn't matter.
