Hi all,

Here I come, out of the lurking mode again.  This reminds me of my
brother-in-law.  I only surface when I want something.  Anyway, all of the
comments about the rising cost of boating in the land of British Waterways have
got me thinking (a somewhat unusual occurrence these days).  We are Yanks who
are officially continuous cruisers.  In actuality, we cruise April, May and
June,  and then September, October and November.  In between those times, our
boat is moored in various marinas.  As you could guess, it is actually more
expensive for us to be off the boat than on it.  We've chosen not to have a
home marina because we like to move around a lot.  Like good continuous
cruisers.

So the question is, is there a market for a boat share situation that would
fill in the months that we are back here in Chicago?  Our narrowboat is 4 1/2
years old, 59 feet long, Beta 43, fixed cross double, convertible settee, semi
trad.  No Smoking.  No pets.  She's called Rhapsody and is listed on the
Pennine Waterways site.  What are the issues/concerns of a small boat share?
Insurance?  License?  We're not ready to make this move quite yet.  Just kind
of thinking out loud.

By the way, I really like this site.  It helps keep me involved with the canal
system while we're 4000 miles away.  Some day I'd like to meet some of you
characters.

Thanks again for your help.  It isn't the first time.

Cheers,

John (and Ann) Glaves
