I ignored those that had licence dated 12/07 any other date and there should
be no excuse.
As for being forced to display just check up and you will see it is
compulsory to display the disc under BW bylaws however I don't think that
the fine is enough for non display!
Some rough figures
20,000 boats approx on the canals
5% = 1000 boats unlicensed. Figure is nearer 8% according to BW
rough licence fee £500 mine is nearer £600
1000 x £500 = £500,000 that BW don't get......
20,000 boats at £500 = £10,000,000 total licence income
7% increase in licence fee = £700,000
12% increase in licence fee = £1,200,000
There's the £500,000
So if everyone paid we might get a 7% increase this year instead of the
projected 12%.
I take it you are content to pay your £25 extra to subsidise these
freeloaders.
