Hi Baz, Brian, Connie and All,
Many thanks indeed for the good wishes and thoughts. As you can imagine
there is quite a lot of stress around here at the moment and it brings a
lump to the throat reading the posts.
The Avon is up again tonight and seems to be rising slowly. About 3.5 meters
at the moment. LT is bobbing about OK and I have put extra ropes onto 'my'
lamppost to keep the stern in check. It is going to be a long night. Word is
that there will be heavy showers over the next 4 days and depending where
the water falls will dictate our fate. I was attending a meeting in
Birmingham today and left early to return to Evesham. The fields on the
surrounding areas of the Avon from Stratford to here are full of water and
Tewkesbury on the Avon/Severn junction is overflowing so there is nowhere
for any extra water to go except up!. The District council have supplied
sandbags and we have those at home ready to put in place, might help a bit.
On hearing the news tonight there are already problems on the River Ouse and
surrounding areas, I hope all those on this list over there are OK. I
understand all rivers in Wychavon District are on Flood Watch at the moment,
that is encouraging. We still have Flood Warning and then Severe Flood
Warning to go. Severe is when flooding is imminent.
Keep those fingers crossed please. It is making a difference.
Regards,
Andrew
