I understand that before he sold the rights to the bear, when he was out on 'nb Midnight' and someone asked the same question he would give a very robust answer along with a gesture that was similar to Sooty in the nude. But because he was being filmed for family viewing time, he realised he couldn't do it this time - he spluttered a bit but just about managed to control himself.
