I went for a quick two-half-days trippette on my boat
and met lots of hirers who were having a hard time of
it in the incredibly windy sleety weather. One intrepid
boater came at me on the wrong side of the canal and only
at the last minute pulled over to his right to miss me.
When he'd gone past he asked me "Excuse me, what side
do you pass people on?" He had an Australian accent
and I suspect he was somewhat unimpressed by our nice
spring weather.
The purpose of the trip was to test the rebuilt Paragon
gearbox and the overhauled Petter PH2 engine. I can now
report that clutch slipping is a thing of the past and
by some magic the calorifier now heats the water up to
a most satisfactory too-hot-to-put-your-hands-in
temperature. I enjoyed a very satisfactory too-hot
shower after getting completely frozen up on the back
of the boat. (Memo to self: light the back cabin
stove next time, numbwit!)
