I have found my old BetaMax recorder (backed the wrong horse, I know...) along with a 20 year old tape containg the last 4 of the 5 parts of "Boating Butler" This was 5 x 30 min programs on BBC2 (with Tony Butler), showing a journey from the Severn, via Kidderminster, Netherton, Hatton, Foxton, Sawley, to Haweskbury (at the rally in 1987?). A fiar bit of boating, a few digressions, and some interviews with people, some of which probably have passed over this mortal plane - Caggy Stevens for one. Sadly, it's not in the best condition. Episode 1 - I missed - actually I didn't even know it was on, my late father spotted it (I think I was away boating IIRC) Episode 2 - Dad recoded it on an old VHS (I was still boating..?), I transferred it to BetaMax... (I know, should have kept the original...) Episode 3 to 5 - recorded direct on the Sony BetaMax Episode 2 also suffers from being too near the tape start - bit of stretch... I also think not being played for 20 years has not been kind to the magnetism of the tape. Anyway, it's in the process of being captured by my old analogue TV card (the only one I have with a composite video input). I don't think it will be small, the random noise (not too much, still watchable), tends to make the file size quite big.
Question is shall I post it somewhere? -- Ron Jones Process Safety & Development Specialist Don't repeat history, unreported chemical lab/plant near misses at http://www.crhf.org.uk Only two things are certain: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not certain about the universe. ~ Albert Einstein
