As I understood Sheila's post Pete, she was pointing out that if a BW marina sells Armco piling chains for use around the top link beam then they are explicitly supporting/encouraging that method of mooring. I don't think she was suggesting using them round the rings, where, as you point out a rope would be suitable. Rgoer
