Currently Guardian Jobs has our part time paid job on the Birmingham
border directly above the canal tunnel advertised. It is just possible

people to animals, it also has a conservation project.

Job: Youth Worker/Coordinator – Youth Volunteering Project (P.T),
WOODGATE VALLEY URBAN FARM

Hours: Part Time
Salary: £20,370 per annum pro rata
24 Hours per week, three year contract running until March 2011.

Woodgate Valley Urban Farm was established in 1987 and is situated in
the south west of Birmingham. It is a member of the federation of City
Farms and Community Gardens and comprises six acres of land which
includes a smallholding, traditional orchard, wildlife area, cottage
garden and classroom/training/meeting room. The project is community
run and supports local people of all ages and backgrounds by offering
hands-on training and experience in a supportive environment. It is
also a much valued community visitor attraction.  The Youth
Volunteering Project is a new initiative through the vinvolved
National Youth Volunteering Programme.

We are looking fro someone with existing experience of working with
young people (16-25 years) to take responsibility fro promoting the
scheme, recruiting the volunteers and scheduling and developing a
variety of evolving projects and work programmes.

The successful applicant will encourage and support the volunteers to
channel their energies, interest and creativity through a range of
work activity/events/initiatives with the aim of improving their self
esteem, confidence and leadership skills, at the same time improving
the community services and facilities available within the overall
Urban farm project.

Applicants will need to display innovation, creativity and strong
motivational skills in order to inspire the volunteers to achieve
their aspirations.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for someone who is
involved in youth work, has experience of supervision in a supportive
environment and who can also be entrepreneurial and creative within
budgets to maximum effects and achievement.
