Re: your Morso Squirrel the rear flue blanking plate securing lugs do fail after about four to five seasons.
all you need is a new blanking plate, securing lugs, fixing bolts plus a short length of fire-proof rope -- total cost less than 35ukp available at most well stocked chandleries including the one i manage. best regards Iain Shobnall Boat Services Ltd (was Jannel|) Burton on Trent ----- Original Message ----- From: "Captain Beeky" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 20, 2008 2:48 PM Subject: [canals-list] Poorly Squirrel - Tufty's probable demise Uncle Mort's 5.1/2 year old stove is not well. The bung for the unused back flue fitting has dropped out and the boss is nastily corroded, beyond repair I think. I see the direct replacement is the Morso 1410 Airwash model and the cheapest all inclusive price I found on the web is £540. For £600 there is the model 1430 Cleanheat. The Airwash has the 2 x rotary vent controls, one above the glass in the door and the other in the lower (ash pan) door. The Cleanheat has only the latter rotary control. Anybody have experience of the Cleanheat ? What is the life expectancy for a Squirrel ? As far as the replacement goes it seems that the steel flue is "soft" fixed at the boss where it passes through the roof. The theory is, according to Glascote legend, that if I pick out the glass fibrous packing around the flue pipe where it emerges from the roof I will soon be rewarded with a floppy flue pipe. Possibly a bank holiday project . . . . Beeky ------------------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Links [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
