Hi Cliff Just to let you know that the first Sunday in September (7th) is the Angel Canal Festival by City Road lock (just before Islington Tunnel).
A great event but the canal will be very busy there with little space to moor so you would do well to plan to moor elsewhere if you are in London that weekend. The Regents Canal is great but watch out for the tight bends between St Pancras and Camden - they catch a lot of people out. At the top lock at Camden you can use either lock, whichever is set in your favour. Between Camden and Little Venice there are several trip boats operating so that stretch gets quite busy. You can't pass in either of the two tunnels between Islington and Little Venice so check passage is clear before you enter. If you've got time there is a good canal museum in Battlebridge Basin near Kings Cross.
