Subject: [canals-list] Wigrams Turn
Hi All,
We spent a pleasant afternoon visiting Wigrams Turn this afternoon. It seems
like a good marina. Anyone got any comments on the merits or otherwise of
mooring there?.
Hi Andrew,
We have been at Wigrams nearly two years, a very friendly, pleasant and
quiet bunch.
Don't worry too much about the traffic density, it's okay as long as you
avoid the obvious kicking out time for Black Prince, Calcutt and Napton
Narrowboats. In addition when the boats are due back in (Sat morns), the
marina normally have Don at the junction directing the boats ;-)
Reasonable pubs (The Bridge, The Folly and those at Braunston) all within
half a days cruising, the locks at Braunston can be a bottle neck but no more
then most others, I guess it's all in the timing.
The facilities you will have seen (lack of chandlery one although Calcutt
is very close), they have a tame electrician who visits weekly and they can
arrange for other work to be carried out at your request. The ownership changed
recently but most of the staff remain the same.
Nothing more to say other than we had one small problem and it was resolved
very reasonably to our complete and utter satisfaction (albeit in canal time
lol), and that to me is worth the premier you pay...
Regards
Ian Cripps
NB Vienna.
PS we are being tempted by Findern's new marina on the T & M though ;-)
