I was privileged enough to get a ride on Uncle Mort to Hawne Basin in July 2006 - photos here: http://baz-juniper.fotopic.net/c1550290.html Gosty Hill Tunnel did not present any undue hazards to UM's superstructure - although the bore is not all as tall as its portals suggest. There wasn't all that much water, though. IIRC the technique adopted was to leave the engine in idle in forward gear and for all three of us on board to stand forward and fend off from the tunnel walls. Passage took about 20 mins. We were made welcome at Hawne Basin and the bar was opened for our edification and delight. There was only one of the traditional weedhatch expeditions - near Smiths Bridge - although it was quite productive [see snaps]. The Cap'n may be along later to add more.
