Seemed a good deal longer to me stuck at the back, whilst you and Dave
H were messing about at the pointy end. After a "while" I concluded
that my end was making hardly any progress on the inbound transit to
Hawne so I decided to leave the tiller and see if the sharp end was
having better success. Uncle Mort draws something like 30 inches at
the stern when under way and I thought that the best chance of making
headway was

        1) leave in gear at just over idle
        2) get as much weight forward to trim the bow down as much as poss
        3) leg through using our hands

Yes indeed the Hawne basin "person" was very hospitable, but I had pre-
booked. At the weekend there will surely be more folk about.

IIRC there is a flow through the tunnel away from Hawne. The return
trip seemed much quicker.

I'm really pleased to have made the trip and would probably do it
again. The most daunting part of the whole BCN experience was getting
through the silted up toll islands, that is if you disregard the the
Dave H man-boob situation that occurred just before 10:25 as Baz's
photo record provides due testament !
