* The only wide locks I know that are offside ground first are the 6 on
the T&M east. A lockie told us - we having always done thenm the normal way - we tried them and it seems to work. > The wide T & M locks are of a completely different design to all (as far as I know) other wide locks. On these the ground paddles empty directly from under the cill rather than from the side wall, thus opening same side ground paddle would tend to throw the boat away from the lockside rather than holding it a the side entry ones do.
