I must get my oar in here! I too have 'hassle' with some wardens, others are excellent with the 'correct' approach to boaters and not introduce ex. World-War-Two, "GESTAPO" methods.
I too am licenced, insured and all the other formalities required by BW and enjoy the canals to get away from the beauocracy experienced with other life-styles. I'm afraid that beauocracy is coming to the canals like an express train. Every time I have 'hassle' with a warden, I telephone the Patrol Officer of the area and complain verbally, or by voicemail. I then write to BW Watford and set out my complaint with all the why's and wherefores, as a formal complaint expecting an answer. (I don't ofen get one!) If a warden is NOT REASONABLE and civil I get a bit short tempered and tell them to push off and I close the doors of my boat and ignore them. Then they have the option of staying, or going away! WARDENS ARE THERE TO OBSERVE AND REPORT BACK TO AREA HQ, NOT TO HASSLE THE BOATERS... How many other boaters have received 'Gestapo' attitudes from Wardens who have had no training and don't know how to approach boaters and 'discuss' any problem(s)? Some of them are worse than Traffic Wardens!!!!! One should not have to discuss personal details with the 'Flotsome' type wardens, who think they are GOD! and think they own their section of canals. Private and personal situations and/or technical difficulties should be reserved for the HQ of BW and not every Tom. Dick or Harry. Why should wardens know your business? ~Allan~ - In [email protected], "mick" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Just for your record I never over stay and I alway have a licence and a > mooring 1/ I was told by a Bank Warren just as I was mooring that > they was reserving the mooring for a friend, and told to find some > where else. 2 / My wife has to use a wheelchair 50% of the time or a > frame and one wheel broke so I arranged with BW to moor on a 24 hour > mooring for no longer tham 36 to pick up new wheel and the local bank > warren told me that they was in charge not somebody in the BW > office. > > > -- In [email protected], "Julian" <pargebarge@> wrote: > > > > Finally had to comply with the BW CC rules have you? > > Trying to get one over? > > Its about time that towpath shufflers got their just deserts! >
