As a listed structure, BW would need a Listed Building Consent from the local planning authority to demolish (what's left of) the bridge. >From what I've seen so far (and has anyone got better pictures than the BBC video?) the bridge is not so badly damaged as to be unrepairable, and I imagine that the local authority will want to see it repaired rather than replaced. Either way I imagine BW will be chasing the tractor driver's insurance for the cost. David Mack
