You will have to get use to the toilet humour from some people!
 
The most obvious things to do is read the comics no not the beano but Canal 
mags, go to the shows and look and ask questions along the waterways and in the 
boat yards etc.
 
Hate to say it (more heads will get bigger), but there is such a wealth of 
experience on this site, but be prepared for the banter.
 
Standard questions you will be asked are what length, stern type, windows or 
pot holes, and most important what type of toilet. It just happens that most 
boaters will get around to the toilet subject with in a short time.
