At a meeting at Hatton several modified versions of the BW wooden
bollard were displayed in front of invited parties. Of the 800 plus to
be fitted on narrow locks some 700 are installed. BW propose to modify
the bollards by rounding them off with a router type machine or
fitting a steel capped tube over them. the rounding off with a router
to ground level was estimated to cost about £70000, the steel cap idea
was priced at around £150000. The remaining 150 plus to be fitted will
be modified before installation. Despite all the critical views and
opinions, BW still forge forward with what is now widely accepted to
already be a gross waste of money, spending more money which could be
better used elsewhere, thought you would like to know this.
