What I have seen is a long series of postings, most of which make entirely irrelevant points about the Brave and Noble boater assuming the risk: that's irrelevant because the declaration by the Brave and Noble boater has no legal force and the waterways authority can't rely on it. Declaring how Brave and Noble and indeed Fearless you are is no doubt an indication of continuing virility, and makes you feel better, but it doesn't make any difference. Unless you can think of a way of reducing the risk to the waterways authority of being sued, you'll have to put up with health and safety activities. And (not that you asserted otherwise) it's got nothing to do with the nanny state or other manifestations of socialism: it's the result of unbridled capitalism. bjg
