When I arranged the insurance for Arun there were a number of questions
to answer, including would I be single handing and would I be travelling
after dark. I called them up to ask if this was likely to be a problem,
only to be told that they were concerned about people single handing
small motor vessels out at sea, setting the auto-compass for Dieppe (or
wherever) and going to sleep. Single handing on the canal at night
would not be an issue. Rather amusingly, one of the questions asked if
I wanted cover for towing water skiers!
