Following a discussion on the Britain's Lost Railways group regarding an appropriate place to post images and discuss historic and lost waterways, a new group has been created. Anyone with an interest in historic images and lost waterways is invited to join and contribute to the new list.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lost_waterways This is a group for the discussion of lost and historic waterways and also for the posting of attachments containing images and maps/diagrams of these waterways. Current views and information on disused and derelict waterways are welcome as are any historic waterways images even if the waterway is in use today. The loss of waterways heritage has been a tragedy and often all that is left are photographs taken only a few years ago. Access details and grid references would be helpful but please note that intrusion onto private property is neither condoned or encouraged. The group is open for information about canals and waterways in Great Britain and Ireland. It is a requirement of all members that they abide by the rules of copyright. No information (photos, diagrams or anything contained in emails posted to the group) can be published elsewhere without the permission of the group member/copyright holder.
