Indeed, I have gone one further and use a small sledge hammer
I bought mine for around a tenner many years back at Builders Mate (now 
demised, was a cheap, "trade only" Wickes).
I despair with some boaters that sit their tapping away with their teeny 
lump hammer for hours. Many a time we have stopped behind these antics, 
moored up and then lend them our sledgy
