I have modified the settings on KService to start manually i.e only when
it is needed. In Windows Control Panel go to Administrative Tools, then
to Services. Find KService in the list, double click on it and change
the Startup type to Manual. Stop it if it is running then Apply/OK.

When you load the BBC iPlayer the service will start manually. You have
to stop it in the same way each time you exit the iPlayer (assuming
you're not shutting the computer down or logging off) but when you
restart the system it will not be running.
