Could be a "love-in" because it works and for those with no technical
knowledge it tells them the facts rather than having to work out an
approximation.

Accuracy

Just take 2 examples

Battery when new 200Ah
discharge 100Ah to 50%
as battery gets old it looses capacity say to 180Ah
discharge 100Ah that you think is 50% but in reality its 55%
how will any shunted meter deal with that, it just cant because you don't
know how aged the batteries are, SG reads correctly.

My batteries have been off for a while, the shunted meter will still show
100% but due to self discharge they have lost 7% SG shows 93%

This is without going into recharge / discharge cycles and the fact that you
need to put in more than you take out to reach 100% which gets forgotten.
