ROFL! You actually *can* get AA (or it may be one of the other motoring organisations) membership; I've not looked into it personally but there was an article, about a year or so back, regarding a guy whose mobility scooter had broken down in town - it only hit the news because they left the poor chap tucked into a doorway, by the side of the main shopping centre, for over four hours - I guess they had to wait for the 'Duty Electrician' to sign in ....
IIRC, it was also on the local TV news and A Spokesperson - who must be a member of a very *big* family, as most organisations seem to have a Mr (or a Mrs, Miss, Ms, or Master) A. Spokesman working in their companies - apologised and said that the operator taking the call 'had failed to appreciate the circumstances' ... three times if the truth be known :( As it happens, I've never liked the guy in question (he lived just around the corner at the time) as he was the most surly, rude and ungrateful, person I'd come across in many years; he had the local press wrapped around his fingers and was always shouting his mouth off, usually about one perceived injustice or another, but I had some sympathy for him on that occasion as it was a cold and wet evening :( Trevor Brian on Harnser wrote: > Trevor pretended : > > snip > > >> They were then given a final 'top up' with battery water - and they have >> worked ever since (I did it during August last year), although they >> probably only provide 85% of their original capacity; this last bit is a >> little bit of a guess as I haven't owned the scooter from 'new' (it was >> actually on offer in my local 'Freecycle' group!).
