Sure, here goes. My brother had a day's holiday booked for Wednesday, so he came over to give me a hand. First job was to get the replacement piston back in the block and reconnected to the crankshaft. The manual says the big end nuts should be tightened to 40/45 lb.ft, however it is completely impossible to get a torque wrench in to tighten them up. The approach taken was to do them up as tight as we possibly could and hope that we weren't too far off. A circlip securing a spring and washer for one of the compression changeover valves had come adrift in the cylinder head, so after a bit of a struggle we had the spring compressed enough to get the circlip back on. After we had the cylinder head back on and torqued down the compression changeover controls were refitted. Next task was to get the push rods, rockers, injectors and all the pipe work reconnected. Valve clearances adjusted and the covers back on. The water pump is currently being dismantled so that the graphite seals can be changed. I expect to collect this on Monday and it should then be a simple job to refit that and the associated pipework. Then it's just a case of bleeding the air from the injection system and see if it's ever going to run again. Terry Streeter NB Arun - West Hyde (but not for much longer (I hope) :-) )
