There's a mooring just above Kingston Bridge (by the houseboats, outside
wall of Bushy Park) which is probably the one you're referring to above.
You have to pay, but it should be a safe place to leave the boat
(goose-droppings aside!) and there are frequent direct trains from
Kingston Station into London Waterloo.
