Woman killed in canal boat fall

The family are thought to have hired the canal boat in Rugby
A woman died when she fell from a canal boat in north Oxfordshire.

Rescue services were called to the Oxford Canal at Old Wharf, in Cropredy,
early on Thursday evening.

Police believe the woman, who was in her late 40s and from Devon, struck her
head as she fell off the back of the boat into a lock.

She and her family had been on holiday. The canal was closed while the
police carried out their investigation. There are no suspicious
circumstances.

The woman was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Her family are thought to have hired the canal boat from a firm in Rugby,
Warwickshire.

Someone's told me that Radio Oxford are carrying reports this morning. I'm
on the Oxford summit with no 3G reception. Can anyone post details please?
