Re The day boat that sunk at Stanstead lock on Wednesday last week, I was
first person on scene and the men I don't think were drunk, they did open
bottom paddles but forgot to close top ones in the panic, I closed one on my
side and lady on other boat in lock closed her side but it was to late as the
boat was going down after it come up under the swing bridge that the day boat
forgot to open. I have lots of photos taken later on, when one of the men was
on top of the boat and in the water trying to save they gear off the boat. I
believe the boat yard told them it was no good staying, that was about one hour
later and one guy stayed. Before anyone say's the swing bridge should be left
open, should look at the bridge and would see that it would be to dangerous, so
that is why it is left over the lock,
but I will say it could do with a BIG sign warning of the dangers
