I agree, especially if there was plenty of fresh coming down with the prospect of a good level rise. I am normally happy for others to raft up outside me but in that sort of condition I could not put total trust the welding on my T studs and often the outer boats do not have ropes long enough to reach to the mooring, especially from something like a 27ft GRP job alongside a 54ft narrowboat. I also think it would not be wise to try going alongside a grp boat (unless invited and helped) with a typical narrowboat. Tony Brooks
