Given that we have each paid a big chunk of cash to BW to become boaters 
surely it is reasonable for them to assume that we remember the canals 
exist without being reminded of the fact?! Personally I'd rather they 
used their advertising budget to increase use of the waterways by other 
groups. Ultimately the object of their advertising is to increase 
visitor numbers and so help make their case for an increase in the 
government grant (and by implication correct the imbalance in 
contribution made by existing boaters) an approach which presumably we 
all would support.
