The advice usually given is that you should never use a vacuum cleaner inside a PC. The reasons are that it can suck up small components (such as jumpers on the motherboard) and, more importantly, vacuum cleaners get charged with static electricity that can damage the PC. The safest way to clean is to use a can of compressed air bought for the purpose (not a tyre pump or similar, as the air from these get charged with static), but that's an expensive way to do it. I'd go for the small brush approach, leaving the PC plugged in but switched off at the wall (so it's earthed but not live). But I have also been known to use a vacuum cleaner, being careful not to touch it on anything inside the case. David.
