Mrs B and I excursioned to Llangollen & Pontywotsit by car, earlier this
week. We were/are considering a Christmas cruise thereabouts. Enquiring of
BW bod ref likelihood of finding a visitor mooring at Xmas was told that
"they" expected the moorings would be full with permanent winter moorers
paying up to £300 per month. Although there might be the odd gap at
Llangollen the electricity will/may not be available. And/or there may not
be any overnight charge (normally £6)

I think the BW bod really didn't know anything, just like the policy
makers. It does rankle that BW does not seem to consider it important to
make provision for a bona fide, fully paid up, marina based boater to find
adequate moorings for a day or two as part of a winter cruise.

All we can do is squeeze out whatever we can in terms boating delight/R&R
amid all this bunkum.

I wonder if Joanna Lumley likes waterways. She might be able to lay some
common sense on all this.
