Julians tuppence well received. We've given up the trip - now back at Aqueduct Marina where we started a week ago.
JT > leaky joint in the fuel system letting air in agreed - none found, problem continues JT > injector pump gone out of adjustment (spill rail timing needs doing) interesting - the RCR chap had a fiddle with the spill unions and was surprised that nothing was coming through ! Possibly indicates that not "too much" diesel is reaching the injectors. JT > Decompressors leaking But that wouldn't explain why the engine has (so far) restarted after a quick bleed from the CAV pump. Other theory - something sludged in the fuel tank/pick up when the boat was slipped just prior to starting trip. Another theory now dismissed - tank breather blocked. It was mucky with sand and old blacking shards from sandblasting but cleaning it has made no difference. I have broken the fuel line (deliberately) between filter and injector pump - seems like plenty of diesel getting through. However the break in spot was upstream of . . . The original Lister green fuel filter housing which was left on the engine for quaintness and has never been touched during our ownership. As one Mr R Millin of this parish has remarked, should find out what is going on inside that housing. That is the one thing not yet dismantled. I am getting fed up with the smell, feel and taste of diesel. Yes dear . . . another glass of red will do nicely. Beeky
