Lee,
So I uninstalled deprec-2.0.9 and now cap deploy successfully executes.
Guess I should bother the deprec community about 2.0.9

Thanks again for your help and direction.....asking me about 3rd pary
extensions, etc clued me into thinking about deprec.

I guess this problem forced me to learn a little more about gems....I never
know there was a difference between sudo gem install and gem install without
sudo.
