Matt, fair enough - we didn't have any problems with .svn directories back in our PCI days (I work abroad now, where I have much less to worry about!)
A tweak to the Murder implementation would be trivial, https://github.com/lg/murder/blob/master/lib/murder/murder.rb#L31 - add another --exclude option, that suits you better, even if you were only to expand that line to exclude .svn in addition.
