Hi Eric, I prevailed upon one of our affected users in Holland to run a simple test app on his system (10.12.1 (16B2555)) that loops through a variety of common sizes (9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 18, 24) of various system fonts testing derived styles, and the result is rather alarming.
Apparently FetchFontInfo, GetFontInfo, and DrawJustified all fail on any combination of styles that includes italic, outline, or shadow for every tested common size of Geneva, Courier, Symbol, and Lucida Grande. Interestingly Times (which has an italic variant) and Helvetica (which has oblique) both fail only on outline and shadow.
