I've tried removing the file 'carbon-emacs-auctex-fix.el', and dislike the
result (it uses the old xdvi for viewing dvi files, etc). So I restored
'carbon-emacs-auctex-fix.el' back into the directory
Emacs.app/Contents/Resources/site-lisp/site-start.d/.

I worked for awhile yesterday with the latest beta
(CarbonEmacs-i386-20070408.dmg 08-Apr-2007)
and I do not find any changes in it from before, in particular, the
defaults seem reasonably ok (with the previous problem continuing):

- latex -> View (open <file>.dvi) opens TexShop.app (always on p.1 by
running dvips + distiler, i.e. creating a new <file>.dvi; if TeXShop.app
has not been closed, no update is displayed)

- pdflatex -> View (open <file>.pdf) opens Preview.app on the last page
viewed; if Preview.app has not been closed no update is displaced.

I.e. the latest beta worked reasonably ok, if I would take extra care
(quite easy) to close the viewing display (TexShop or Preview), e.g. by
Cmd-W. To avoid the previously described problem with TeXShop, I had to
use my .emacs with external AUCTeX commands simpdftex and Preview as
viewer.
