Many thanks for this tip, José!  I haven't used Aquamacs before but I
jus installed it and I see that this does work. Do you by chance know
how to turn "Use system input method" off by default?

Also, more generally, what are the (other) advantages you find of
Aquamacs over Carbon Emacs?  I'm curious why you're using Aquamacs
instead now.
