Are you sure it only happens with the recent version of Carbon Emacs?
I made tests with a few of my GNU Emacsen, all X clients that launch
quite fast. To me it seems to be some customisation that leads to
this error:
(setq ispell-dictionary "german8")
(add-hook 'TeX-language-en-hook (function (lambda () (ispell-
change-dictionary "british"))))
(add-hook 'TeX-language-de-hook (function (lambda () (ispell-
change-dictionary "deutsch8"))))
But then, uncommenting again the commented lines the error could not
be reproduced. So what I now assume is that it could be influenced by
session or desktop management, having faulty entries in their save
files ... or coincidence?
