Did you have the code settings in your ~/.emacs for the pdfsync
interaction between Emacs and Skim (i.e., for Inverse and  Forward
Search)? I've tried Skim as previewer from Carbon Emacs (of 2008-01-18)): 
it works, but only after I've put that code in ~/.emacs.
