Not exactly "full screen"... but this has been my solution:

Download the "Think" application from http://freeverse.com/apps/app/?id=7013 
  web site. It's free--so the price can't be beat. Center emacs and  
set the default font size & fill-column to your preference, then run  
the Think application and select emacs to be in the foreground. A  
little hacky, but surprisingly useful.
