sounds as if you are familiar with mediawiki... so I'm just going to ask 
some questions here:

1) how should we enter different language versions of some document?
2) is there a mail notification function (I didn't find it) in mediawiki? 
3) who can explain me the namespace concept (and what should we use it 
for?)

I like the wiki as a tool for cooperative work on documents, but a 
valuable documentation should IMHO be searchable for each language 
separately. Maybe it should also provide some kind of 
non-(publicly)-editable view for customers (allowing only annotations / 
user comments like the mysql online docs).
