Hi Terry,
As Johannes mentioned in his email reply, it may be related to OpenGL
(used to draw the graphics). In the windows 5.3 distribution of Caret
is a directory named "lib_only_use_if_needed" containing two files
(Glu32.dll and OpenGL32.dll) which are Microsoft's software OpenGL
libraries. Copy these two files into the caret distribution's "bin"
directory and then start Caret. If Caret now runs, you need to either
get or update the OpenGL libraries appropriate for your graphics card.
If Caret still fails to start you may want to search Microsoft's web
site for the error message.

Hi,
I've been using the Windows version of Caret 5.2 for some time on an
old HP Pavilion, and I recently transferred it to a much newer 2000MHz
machine, expecting it to run even better. However, when I start the
program (either from Windows of DOS) it immediately quits, with an
error message that says "CARET5 caused an invalid page fault in module
<unknown>". I also downloaded Caret 5.3, and it too works fine on the
old machine, but not on the new one. I assume that something is
configured differently in the two machines, but I don't know enough
about the inner workings to be able to discover what the problem is. I
would be very grateful for any assistance you could give me.
