But you said "about to register a freesurfer surface to F99" -- suggesting the 
surface already exists.  It's much easier to register a surface that exists 
already than to segment one, too.

I have experience from the Freesurfer-to-Caret pipeline (human).  I've adapted 
the preborder.sh import part.  Skipped downsampling, depth generation, and 
auto-landmark part, though, because this really is oriented to humans.
