Only the Conte69 surfaces are available for FNIRT mapping; there are no PALS surfaces that have been registered using FNIRT -- just FLIRT and the other methods listed here:
http://brainvis.wustl.edu/help/pals_volume_normalization/ The Conte69 surfaces are on the new fs_LR standard mesh (164k vertices), which is described in this paper: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22047963 The datasets for this paper are here: HUMAN_ATLAS_CC11 http://sumsdb.wustl.edu/sums/directory.do?id=8286149 So you could map to the Conte69 FNIRT surfaces, and then perhaps use one of the fs_LR datasets from this paper to visualize your results (e.g., on the fs_LR inflated surface).
