I will confess that I never learned how to do this properly myself, even though 
I have been using caret longer than my daughter has been alive.  I would always 
get confused and end up using hemisphere-specific spec files, one at a time, 
photoshopping them together, if needed.

But I know several users who managed to do it.  All of them very busy.

I think Caret workbench will make this easier, but maybe wait a bit longer to 
switch.  Six months?
