I have updated my working copy to use the Spring LdapContextSource, and every test case passes _except_ the one I had written for FastBindLdapAuthenticationHandler to verify DIGEST-MD5. After going down a few dead-ends, I finally got it working by implementing http://static.springframework.org/spring-ldap/docs/1.3.x/apidocs/org/springframework/ldap/core/support/DirContextAuthenticationStrategy.html. We may very well need to create an authentication strategy for every authentication method we want to support (other than simple and SASL EXTERNAL, which Spring provides). If anyone wants to speak up on what LDAP mechanisms we must formally support, I'd appreciate it. This may likely be documented somewhere already, so just point me there in that case.
